Girlfriend Collective is a Seattle-based activewear brand that makes high-quality, sustainable clothing from recycled materials. The brand was founded in 2016 by husband and wife Ellie and Quang Dinh, who were inspired by Quang's discovery of a way to make polyester from recycled water bottles. Girlfriend Collective's products are made from recycled plastic water bottles and food containers, which they source from Taiwan's former Garbage Island. The brand also uses lower-impact materials like recycled polyester, non-toxic dyes, and textile offcuts, and they reuse recycled packaging. Girlfriend Collective's products are certified by the Social Accountability Standard International (SA8000) to ensure fair wages and safe working conditions for their factory workers, and they are also OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified
